New boilers can be an expensive cost in the immediate short-term - we recognise that; but they can also save you a considerable amount of money and complications in the long term. So we’ve compiled a list of reasons as to why it’s best to get a new boiler installed before it’s too late.
Improved boiler efficiencies
Each boiler in the UK is rated through the Seasonal Efficiency of Domestic Boilers Scheme, where each boiler is graded from A to G. In short, boilers that operate at efficiency levels over 90% are given an A rating (almost all new boilers), whilst boilers that operate at less than 70% efficiency levels are given a G rating, where the latter category is typically dominated by boilers that are older than 10 years old.
If you’re a customer that has a G-rated boiler, you could save up to £320 per year on your energy bills (dependent on the type of house and provider) through the installation of a brand new A-rated boiler. At Martin Whitehead Heating Services, we install a wide range of A-rated Baxi boilers across South Tyneside and the rest of the North East.
Improved heating control
According to the Energy Saving Trust, heating accounts for 60% of customers’ energy bills. In an attempt to reduce this cost, modern boilers and central heating systems allow customers to control temperatures in individual rooms through the use of a heating controller. By being able to control the temperatures in individual rooms, you can potentially save even more costs as you keep the rooms that matter, warmer.
Boiler breakdowns happen and whilst the majority can be fixed within a reasonable timeframe, older boilers can take considerably longer, largely as a result of sourcing older parts. This could mean being without hot water and heating over the winter months.
Older boilers are considerably louder than newer boilers; particularly those that are on the verge of a breakdown and in desperate need of a service. These sounds might range from kettle noises to loud bangs, which can be extremely annoying if your bedroom is located next to the boiler. With a newer boiler, you needn’t worry about that!
Newer boilers are considerably smaller in size compared to their older counterparts. You can finally use the space taken up by your old boiler for some much needed storage space.
